Taxco Mexico 950 Fine Silver Inlay Cuff Bracelet Vintage Geometric Red White
- Weight63.9 g
Description
This exceptional Taxco cuff bracelet is a testament to the mid-century modern influence on Mexican silver craftsmanship. Handcrafted in Mexico from high-grade 950 fine silver—a purity higher than standard sterling—this piece features a striking centerpiece of red and white inlay. The geometric pattern of the inlay is reminiscent of the modernist movements of the 1950s and 60s, a period when Taxco became a global epicenter for avant-garde jewelry design. The history of Taxco silver is deeply rooted in the revival led by William Spratling in the 1930s, which transformed the city into a hub where traditional artisan skills met contemporary artistic vision.
The design of the cuff is notably architectural, featuring an intricate open-work or "cut-out" frame that provides a bold yet airy aesthetic on the wrist. Weighing a substantial 63.9 grams, the bracelet has a premium, heavy feel that signifies its quality and durability. The oval centerpiece measures approximately 1 5/16 inches in height, acting as a focal point for the fluid, organic lines of the silver frame. Designed to fit a smaller to medium wrist, the cuff measures 6 1/8 inches in total interior circumference, which includes a 1 3/4 inch gap for easy wear. The interior is clearly hallmarked with MEXICO 950 and the artisan registry mark TP-07, ensuring its origin and silver purity.
Vintage Condition & Care: All items listed are previously owned and used unless otherwise stated. Please expect signs of wear such as scuffs, blemishes, or imperfections. While most pieces are gently cleaned with a jeweler's cloth or warm soapy water, Native American pieces are left unpolished to preserve the natural patina often desired by collectors.

- 6.12"
This one suits wrists from about 5.52" to 5.97". Measure with a tape or a strip of paper, snug against the skin, just below the wrist bone.
Too tight -0.38" of room
Forcing this cuff on risks both the stones and the silver. The gap cannot safely be widened to make it fit.
Do not bend — set stones
This piece carries hand-set stones or channel inlay. Squeezing or opening it fractures the stones and breaks the solder long before the silver gives. There is no safe amount of adjustment here, by you or by a jeweller.
Set with Coral.
How to put a vintage cuff on without bending it
- Turn the cuff so the gap faces the underside of your wrist.
- Rest the opening against the narrowest part — the flat side of the wrist, not the back of the hand.
- Roll it on: slide one terminal past the wrist bone, then rotate the cuff around rather than pushing it straight on.
- Turn the gap back underneath once it is on.
The roll is the whole trick. Pushing a cuff on straight is what makes people force the gap wider, and the silver does not come back.
